Minutes of Lonesome Valley Quilt Guild Meeting February 3, 2025
In attendance Gay Fearn, Sue Von Hagel, Susan Cupp, Jeanette Stefanik, Kris Parsons, Mary Terry, Lori Owensby, Marcia Rowell, Susan Corwin, Susan Bloch.
Meeting was called to order at 5:29pm by Gay. Gay announced a change of order to the meetings with the program happening earlier.
Treasurer’s Report. Lori stepped down as our treasurer. Sue Von Hagel moved to reinstate Tami Harvey for another year. Mary Terry seconded. Motion passed. Tami was not at this meeting and there was no treasurer’s report. Jeanette’s motion to pay Mary Terry by check so she could Zelle money for the retreat was seconded by Gay. Motion passed. There was an email approval for purchase of an ironing board and power cords for use at Guild events. We have a CD maturing in February. Mary Terry moved to let it renew. Sue Von Hagel seconded. Motion passed.
Job descriptions were notated and turned into Gay for review.
Secretary. Gay moved to approve the minutes. Mary Terry seconded. Motion passed.
Member at Large. No report but there is information about the retreat later.
Membership. We had 27 in January with 3 life time members and 8 guests for a total of 38. Based on dues paid and lifetime members we have a current total of 37 paid members and 12 lifetime members.
Community Service. Judy was not here but she asked for a motion to purchase batting. Jeanette moved to approve the purchase of two rolls of batting. Lori seconded. Motion passed. Judy donated 10 quilts to League of Extraordinary Grandparents.
Judy had problems with Excel and the budget documents were not available for the February meeting.
Programs. Gail Shannon is tonight’s program and tomorrow’s class will be the Mexican Star. March program will be Gary Rait talking about Hopi quilts and restoring old machines. We are hoping to get Joan Carrell for April and Ronnie Sandoval for May. Swan will return in June. July is a potluck. Susan is working on August and September. October will be a club challenge, November is ornaments, and December is the holiday potluck.
Internal Workshops. New dies are here for the Accu Cutter. We need an additional die. Sue Von Hagel moved to approve the purchase of the die for approximately $125. Mary Terry seconded. Motion passed. Mystery quilt will begins tonight with the fabric requirements. Signups required to determine the number of patterns to have ready. This month’s workshop will be “All things binding” led by Earlene. March internal workshop on the weekday will be charm pack projects and the Saturday workshop will be the Ombre quilt led by Susan Cupp.
If you sign up for workshops let the leader’s know if you won’t be able to make it.
Holiday Boutique. Lori Owensby and Anita Talasmaynewa will co-chair this year’s boutique. Committee members are welcome and Susan Cupp will be on the committee.
Publicity. Gay will be reaching out to Linda Andorka and ask her to take over this position.
Opportunity Quilt. We need to get Boutique Flyers, Bookmarks and Raffle tickets printed. Need new artwork. 3000 tickets to be ordered. A box of bookmarks to be ordered in green. Add our website address. We need to change the contact email on our website. Order 2000 flyers. Gay moved to approve the purchase of the tickets, bookmarks and flyers. Sue Von Hagel seconded. Motion passed.
Retreat. Mary will make a schedule for food prep and clean up. We can unload at the garage door 12-1 but please park in the gravel after unloading. There was a $65 upcharge for getting in at noon on Friday.
Block of the Month. Susan Bloch will hand out the block of the month.
Refreshments. There were only two birthdays so Kris brought some extra items for the break.
New Business. Gay brought in information regarding pop up banners for directing traffic at guild events. Mary Terry moved to purchase one. Lori seconded. Motion passed.
Jeanette moved to adjourn, Susan Bloch seconded.
