Minutes of Lonesome Valley Quilt Guild Meeting September 8, 2025

In attendance Gay Fearn, Jeanette Stefanik,  Lori Owensby, Marcia Rowell, Susan Corwin, Tami Harvey, Sue Von Hagel, Susan Cupp, Linda Andorka, Judy Lapp, Kris Parsons.

Meeting was called to order at 5:31pm by Gay.

Our CD at US Bank will mature this month. The board agreed to move it to Bank of America. Lori moved. Tami seconded. Motion passed.

Secretary. Sue Von Hagel moved to approve the August minutes. Tami seconded. Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report.  We started August with $14,677.66 in checking, $9,547.69 in savings and $10.840.37 in the CDs. We had income of $7224.00  and expenses of $7502.98 which reflects the difference between when the last CD was cashed out and moved to a CD at Bank of America. We ended August with $14,398.68 in checking, $7895.83in savings and $12,510.69 in the CDs. Jeanette moved to accept the treasurer’s report. Lori seconded. Motion passed.

Membership. We had 28 members, 3 life-time members, 2 guests  and 1 new member at the August meeting. Cheryl Abinante has agreed to work with Sue to take over the membership chair.

Member-at-large. No report.

Community Service. Judy reported that she had new bibs and burp cloths and pillowcases available to be sewn.

Programs.  There is no change to the schedule. September’s program will be Jean Berger with quilter’s math at the meeting and a landscape piece at the class. That class will be $10. Don’t forget the challenge is our program for October. We have ornaments lined up for the November meeting.

Website.  Susan Cupp reported the website is up to date.

Internal Workshops.  September is the last month of the year for internal workshops. Saturday September 13th will be the jelly roll rug again as well as a boutique sewing day. September 16th  will be rope sewing and a boutique sewing day.

Holiday Boutique.  Lori reminded us that the boutique is just 6 weeks away. Gay brought Apron kits for the project of the month. September 21st  will be a pricing day at 1pm. September 27th  will be a boutique sewing day. The final pricing day will be October 19th  at 1pm. Please bring in plastic bags for bagging customer purchases at the boutique. If you have large plastic bags we can use them for quilts.

Opportunity Quilt.  We brought in $425 at Rusty Barn, $510 at the Yavapai County Fair, the Home Show was $618. We will be showing the quilt at Coco’s Prescott Quilt Works September 9th through October 9th and the last showing will be at the Quail Country Quilt show October 17th  and 18th.

Publicity. Linda was able to confirm ads in the Country Register and Lonesome Valley Paper, and Prescott Now. We got confirmation that our ad in the Elks newsletter did get printed. Linda is working with the radio, Prescott Courier and the Chambers of Commerce for Prescott and Prescott Valley and she will get something going on Facebook as well.

Block of the Month. Susan Bloch was out of town but Cheryl managed taking in the blocks of the month and handing out the next pattern.

Hospitality. Gloria Baird is planning to get a food handlers certificate as a backup for Kris.

Retreat. Jennie Orosz has volunteered to put together our next retreat.

Old Business. Susan Bloch is managing the Christmas party. Wants to do a gift exchange with homemade gifts.

New Business.
