Minutes of Lonesome Valley Quilt Guild Meeting May 4, 2026

In attendance: Gay Fearn, Susan Bloch, Susan Cupp, Marcia Rowell, Linda Andorka, Judy Lapp, Kym

Mayer, Gloria Baird, Kris Parsons, Kim Martin. Jenny Orosz

Meeting was called to order at 5:33pm by Gay.

1.) The Marketing Presentation by the Social Nette owner cannot attend our meeting. Marcia has

messages out to other potential people. This will be tabled.

2.) Gay and Susan Bloch presented a Shop Hop to Phoenix idea to the board. Master’s Touch Bus

company can take up to 25 people for a cost of about $1,995. Which would be $80/person, and the

guild could put in half ($40). A box lunch could be included. Susan Bloch suggested a party bus which

could hold 20 people for $175/hour. This trip could happen in the fall after the boutique. Marcia

reminded the board that many shops do special things for groups. Gloria thinks the party bus would be

a better option. Gay will reach out to both transportation options for firm prices and bring back to the

board next month to vote on. There are a lot of quilt shop options to visit.

3.) Opportunity Quilt

Gay will get the cash box from Lori. Susan Bloch asked to take the quilt to her company’s (Little

Dealer, Little Prices) grand opening on May 16th. It is available on that date. Discussion followed

regarding the logistics of moving the quilt from place to place. The quilt could be exchanged at our

next meetings in June and July.

a. Mountain Top Quilt Show and meeting in May, Odegaards in June, Prescott Quilt Works in July and

Rusty Barn in September.

Guild meeting in September.

Treasurer’s Report. We have two CD’s, one 10 month and one 3 months. The 3 month matures on

June 8 th of this month, and the 10 month matures on May 28 th of this year. We will not need to use any

of these proceeds on expenses. The guild has $7,800 in savings.

Gloria submitted our nonprofit status to IRS. It was accepted and Gloria printed a screen shoot of

acceptance. We received $538.15 in raffle ticket sales. Which includes the $466 deposit done in May.

Gloria printed out March and April’s checkbook register for the board. Gloria will recheck the fees for

the square. Everything else is balanced. Kim made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Susan

Bloch seconded. All in favor.

Member-at-large. No Report. Susan Corwin is not in attendance.

Membership. No Report. Cheryl is not in attendance.

Community Service. Judy brought in some Christmas stockings and potholders for members to make

at home for the US Vets. There are 60 new units opening at the end of June. Potholders would be a

good addition to the kitchens.

Programs. Gail is here tonight for her presentation.

Susan Cupp presented the board with the cost of the projector and the screen. It was $165.11. This will

help with in person presentations and online programs. This expense was already approved through

emails. At this meeting, Susan Bloch made a motion to approve $165.11 for projector and screen and

Linda seconded it. All in favor.

Website. Susan Cupp updated the website. She needs an updated member list to contact members who

have signed up for programs. Susan Bloch again offered to help Cheryl with Google Docs to update

the member list.

Internal Workshops. The Tuesday workshop this month is a boutique sewing day on May 19th.

Marcia will also show a square on a square block that can be turned into a potholder, table runner,

tabletop etc. at the workshop. The second Saturday, May 9 th workshop is cancelled.

Sue Von Hagel let Marcia know that there is a new luggage tag die for the Accuquilt. Marcia proposes

that we buy this for about $70 with tax and shipping. This would be a great boutique item. Gay made a

motion to purchase the luggage tag die for $75, Susan Bloch seconded it, all in favor.

Marcia created a sign in and sign out sheet for the Accuquilt dies.

Holiday Boutique. First pricing went very well. We have about 559 total items. We received 156 items

at the last guild meeting. May’s Project of the Month is aprons. Kym brought Insul-Bright to hand out

tonight, and our next incentive drawing is going to be in June. Susan Cupp has 16 casserole

covers/carriers already cut out for June’s project and Halloween bags for the fall. She used chenille and

put together some burp cloth kits also. Marcia added that she can make up some kits for “mug rugs”

with a little pouch on the back for hot chocolate.

Publicity. Linda made another call to Prescott News and is waiting for a response. Linda shared that

she is having surgery May 15 th for a second cochlear implant.

Retreat. Jennie will collect the final payments at tonight’s meeting. Payments can be made by check or

Zelle. Ten people are signed up for the retreat. We hoped for at least 12 participants. Our cost to Chino

Valley is $1,650. Therefore, we are short. Gloria asked if we wanted to open it up to other guilds. The

guild is ok with paying the $1,650, even though we may only collect $1,400. Also, the food cost will

decrease which will help balance it out.

Jenny might not be able to attend the retreat for the entire time due to taking care of her mom.

Members of the board offered to help with anything during the retreat.

Block of the Month. At tonight’s meeting people will be able to show their Block of the Month quilts.

Susan Bloch has another Block of the Month project ready to go. It will be fabric picking tonight and

next month cutting the fabric.

Refreshments. There are a lot of birthdays this month, but we might have to add some spare cookies.

Also, we have cheese and crackers and an amazing looking Waldorf salad.

Sunshine. No report.

Meeting adjourned 6:18pm.
