Minutes of Lonesome Valley Quilt Guild Meeting May 5, 2025
In attendance Gay Fearn, Jeanette Stefanik, Lori Owensby, Marcia Rowell, Susan Corwin, Susan Bloch, Tami Harvey, Anita Talasmaynewa, Sye Von Hagel, Susan Cupp, Linda Andorka.
Meeting was called to order at 5:30pm by Gay.
Job Descriptions. We worked through job descriptions for Ways & Means, Audit, Block of the Month, By-Laws, Fat Quarters, Historian, Holiday Boutique, Holiday Parties, Incentive Program, Mini-Groups, Newsletter, Nominating Committee. We expect to finish the job descriptions at the June meeting.
Secretary. Tami moved to approve the corrected April minutes. Susan Bloch seconded. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report. Now that the Budget has been reviewed and approved, the Treasurer’s report included the budget numbers. We started April with $17,637.07 in checking, $9,547.05 in savings and $10.699.27 in the CD. We had income of $536.00 and expenses of $883.74. We ended April with $17,488.33 in checking, $9547.21 in savings and $10,73495 in the CD. Jeanette moved to accept the treasurer’s report. Sue Von Hagel seconded. Motion passed.
Membership. We had 28 members, 3 life-time members and 1 visitor at the April meeting.
Member-at-large. With Mary Terry moving this position was open. Susan Corwin volunteered to fill the position and was appointed by Gay.
Programs. Marti Winkleman was the program for this month with a trunk show. There was no class scheduled for Tuesday May 6. Joan Carroll will be our program for June and her class will be the following Saturday. Class will be for a cork hideaway bag. No program for July as that is our summer potluck. August will be Karri Polyestewa from the Hopi reservation. September will be Jean Berger and will be our last guest program for the year. Web site is up to date.
Internal Workshops. May will be an boutique sew day. June will be table runners. There will also be an open sew day June 28.
Holiday Boutique. Lori and Anita went through the storage space and requested permission to remove three items needlessly taking up space. Gay moved to authorize disposal of the broken quilt rack, donation of the coffee pots and disposal of some very dusty speakers. Tami seconded. Motion passed. The handout project for the month was the wine totes. There is a boutique sew day hosted at Lori’s clubhouse for May 10 and there will be a pricing get together on May 18.
Opportunity Quilt. Lori reported that we brought in $658 in ticket sales at the home show and $77 at the Chino Quilt guild meeting. Marcia Rowell reported that we do have space at the Rusty Barn show and she would be arranging sign-ups for that event.
Publicity. Linda Andorka has advertised our Opportunity Quilt showings on NextDoor and Facebook. She also suggested we sign-up substitutes for the showings in case folks who sign-up are not able to make their slots.
Block of the Month. Susan Bloch will hand out the newest block of the month and manage the giveaway for this month’s block.
Old Business. Job Descriptions were worked on again and should be completed at the June meeting.
New Business. We have decided to make the birthday gift door prizes a drawing available to all attendees of our meetings, not just those who have tickets for the fat quarters. Anita volunteered to be a greeter, making sure everyone got a ticket for the door prize drawing.
We have a draft of a mission statement. Gay moved to accept it. Susan Bloch seconded. Motion passed.
Jeanette moved to adjourn, Sue Von Hagel seconded. Motion passed.
