Community Projects

In November, LVQG Community Projects donated 168 quilts and 240 miscellaneous items to twelve

organizations in Yavapai County. Thank you to our guild members who assisted in making these quilts and

miscellaneous items. They were definitely appreciated and Gay read three thank you notes at our January

meeting.

At our January meeting, Judy mentioned that US Vets has been working at Fort Whipple to open up lodging for

homeless vets. They will be opening up 27 units soon and have asked for quilts and pillowcases from our guild.

Completed quilts for veterans should measure 64” x 78”. You can help with this project by cutting and sewing

quilt back pieces together, cutting binding 3” wide, sewing it together and sewing onto quilt top and in some

cases, adding borders by cutting borders 3-4” wide and attaching to a quilt top. LVQG will provide batting for

veteran quilts. Kits for veteran quilt tops and pillowcases will be available at our February 2 nd meeting. Any

questions, please call Judy. US Vets are also looking for such

things as small appliances, pots/pans, dishes, glassware, etc.

Thanks to all who are participating in community projects. Each month we provide kits for quilt tops, adult and

baby bibs and pillowcases to take home and stitch and return the next month. We also bring quilts that need to

be quilted, and binding finished.

Tickets are given for completed items and participation drawings are held once a quarter. If you know anyone

who needs a quilt hug, please call Judy L.

The LVQG stash is available at no cost to members, just contact Judy L. Every month a bundle of Guild stash

is brought in for our trade table, check it out!

New kits with fabric and pattern to take and make will be available at Community Projects table starting in January 2026.

Our Community Project team is in need of additional members to assist our team in cutting and assembling items for distribution at monthly Guild meetings.  We usually meet on the last Thursday morning of the month.  If you can assist please contact  Judy ~

let‘s challenge ourselves to have even more the next time we deliver. if each of us could just make one additional quilt each month for this worthwhile project, we could give over 500 quilts each year. wow! wouldn’t that be amazing.

Our community quilts consist of small quilts approximately 44” X 54”. Any pattern or design is accepted. The quilts are ideally made with 8 1/2” blocks, 5 across and 7 down. for more information or to volunteer contact judy l.
