Boutique Project of the month
April Project
Gift Pack Pot Holders
Supplies:
3 rectangles of print fabric - each one measuring 9 Wide x 10 High
1 rectangle of cotton batting - measuring 9 x 10
1 rectangle of cotton batting - measuring 4 1/2 x 10
1 rectangle of Insulbrite - measuring 9 x 10
1 1/2 strips of fun binding - measuring 2 1/2 inches wide (I normally use a narrower binding but due to the thickness on these, it needs to be a bit wider)
Layer the potholder as follows:
1 piece fabric - 1 layer batting - 1 layer insulbrite and finally 1 layer fabric. Quilt as desired. Trim to 9 1/2 x 8 1/2
NOTE: our usual potholders consist of 2 layers of batting, and 1 layer of Insulbrite. This project is just too thick to do that.
For the pocket:
Fold the remaining cotton rectangle in half so that it measures 5 x 9 1/2. Insert the remaining small piece of batting, and press. Quilt as desired. Sew the raw edges together close to the edge. Trim the "fold edge" with a small piece of binding. Trim the pocket to fit the potholder - it should be 5 x 8 1/2. Check placement before cutting!!
Final assembly:
Place the pocket on the quilted potholder. Stitch around the raw edges, close to the edge. Trust me on this 'extra' step!!
Bind using your favorite method. I suggest starting the binding at the bottom of the potholder, and working your way around. You will have extra, leftover
March Project
Insul Brite was distributed to members to use in potholders.
february project
The fabric is 100% cotton. The batting is Wrap n Zap. Please use 100% cotton thread. The squares are large enough to use the Accuquilt Go Cutter, and/or follow the video below.
